Microsoft launches social network site

Called so.cl -- pronounced "social" -- it lets subscribers build and share pages that collect text, photos, music and video

Your organization already has a number of ways in which it can reach potential customers through social media. Now Microsoft has come up with another.

The company officially – although quietly -- launched So.cl this week, which it says is aimed at students and learning.

 

The site, which Computerworld U.S. says is akin to Pinterest, lets users build and share pages that collect text, photos, music and video.

Originally designed for students studying social media, Microsoft said one of the aims was to give students the ability to build communities around their education goals.

But like any social network, it’s bound to be exploited by marketers.
