An electrical engineering professor at the University of Sherbrooke has been hired as president of a digital signal processing component manufacturer in Quebec City.
Alain Houle was appointed this week to the position of president and CEO of Lyrtech Inc., whose product lines include DSP and field programmable gate arrays. He replaces Miguel Caron.
Before taking up his academic post at the University of Sherbrooke, Houle was advisor to the chief technology officer of the advanced technology group of Cisco Systems Inc.’s optical networking group. Lyrtech’s manufacturing partners include Texas Instruments and Xilinx. Customers include BAE Systems, Fujitsu, Motorola and NTT DoCoMo.
