IN BRIEF: Tungle hooks up Xing members

Montreal-based Tungle Corp. has announced it will offer its click-to-meet technologies to members of Xing AG's OpenSocial network.

Tungle's technology links users' Outlook, Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Entourage and Lotus Notes calendars to their social networking profiles. Users can share calendars with contacts and schedule meetings with individuals or groups.

Hamburg, Germany-based Xing has positioned itself as a competitor to LinkedIn Corp. as a social network for professionals. Xing has about 7.5 million members, mostly in Europe, on its social network, compared to more than 40 million LinkedIn users.

RSA announces software token for iPhone

RSA Security, the security arm of storage giant EMC Corp., has launched the SecurID Software Token for iPhone Devices, allowing Apple Inc.'s iPhone to be used as an authenticator the company's SecurID Authentication Manager.

The software token application is available free from Apple's App Store.

The application generates a one-time only password that changes every 60 seconds for secure access to enterprsie applications, according to the company.

If the phone is lost or stolen, the tokens can be revoked and automatically redeployed, according to a company statement.

Kroll launches DR for NetApp

Kroll Ontrack Inc. now offers technology to recover last data on storage systems from NetApp Inc.

NetApp's Data Ontap platform creates automated snapshots of data. If those snapshots are purged before a more permanent backup is made, data can be lost, according to Kroll.

The company says its technology can roll back the NetApp system to its previous snapshot state and recover that data.

Multimedia firm nets $750K from NRC

Toronto multimedia technology firm Vixs Systems Inc. has received a $750,000 grant from the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program.

The money will help fund development of video networking processors for Blu-ray players and recorders, making it easier to code and decode high-definition video content for reprocessing and distribution.

Vixs semiconductors, software and hardware reference designs to manufacturers of digital TVs, DVD and Blu-ray players, persoonal video recorders and network-attached storage.
