Clerity Solutions Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Corp. will announce next week an agreement that will see HP selling Clerity’s mainframe rehosting software through its distribution channels.
Clerity’s UniKix technology allows online and batch mainframe applications to run on open systems.
The software suite includes a transaction processing environment, a batch processing environment, performance management software and a role-based access control security manager.
Cisco speeds SAN traffic for DR
Cisco Systems Inc. has announced a series of upgrades to its MDS 9000 family of multilayer directors it said accelerate and secure data over wide area networks for users of IBM Corp.’s System z mainframe storage and open systems storage area networks.
Cisco and IBM jointly developed Cisco XRC Acceleration specifically for users of the IBM z/OS Global Mirror. Cisco says it accelerates data traveling very long distances, reduces bandwidth consumption and shortening updates.
Cisco TrustSec Fibre Channel Link Encryption can be enabled on a per-port basis, encrypting traffic that travels outside the data centre.
The Input/Output Accelerator is a fabric application that can be used in disk or tape backup environments over Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over IP.
Enhancements to Cisco’s SAN Fabric Manager allow up to 15,000 devices to be connected to each node, and up to 10 nodes can be federated together for better manageability, the company says.
Sun updates identity management portfolio
Sun Microsystems Inc. has released new versions of OpenSSO Express and OpenDS Standard Edition software, components of its identity management portfolio.
OpenOSS Express will provide mobile one-time passwords, allowing user cell phones to be be used as a physical token in place of a separate piece of hardware for two-factor authentication.
OpenDS gets a new management console and the ability to write to the OpenDS directory at database speeds without upgrading hardware, the company said.
Open Group’s UDEF available in French
The Open Group, a consortium focused on open standards and interoperability among enterprises, has announced that its Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) is now available in French.
The UDEF assigns global standard identifiers to items of data, ensuring consistent classification and reducing the effort to map information from different sources.
Chinese, German and Spanish translations of the UDEF are in the works, according to The Open Group.
