Huawei UK fumbles on career site

Link led to a GoDaddy landing page, the kind of oversight that a security publication says hackers can exploit

Huawei UK seems to have neglected an important part of its Web site, leading career-seekers to a GoDaddy  page instead of job listings, leading to some embarassment. But as this article by Naked Security points out, the problem could have been a lot worse.

The link on Huawei's site took visitors to huawei-careers.com, a domain the company bought in 2011 but hasn't done anything with it. Informed of the problem, someone at Huawei has apparently put in a temporary site titled "Future home of something quite cool."

But it wouldn't have been that cool if a hacker had managed to hijack the site and use if for nefarious purposes, writes Graham Cluley.

"There's a clear message here," he wrote. "All organisations must take proper care of their website domains, and check that your site is linking where you think it's linking."
