Gene Marks thinks that mobility hasn't quite gotten there yet. And he makes some good points. First, that the proper platform for mobile business is the tablet, which is big enough to do stuff on, and not the phone, which isn't. And second, that tablets are too new for us to have figured out what we want to do with them yet.

I don't know about his implied conclusion - that it might be wise to sit out the next few years of mobility - though. If he's right that there aren't really any good mobile applications, then that means that coming up with one could set a business apart from its competitors. It might even turn into a new revenue stream for you. But I would agree that the business mobile apps that will succeed in the next few years are going to be the ones made by people who have a clear idea of what they want to do with tablets.
