Platform-as-a-service has been getting a pass -- if you'll excuse the pun -- from organizations, despite the rush to cloud solutions.
They've submitted a standard called Cloud Application Management for Platforms to OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) which they hope will allow organizations to embrace
PaaS.

The caution by organizations to adopt PaaS comes in part because the technology has so many flavours. Many IT administrators know PaaS providers like Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azuure. But the market is getting crowded, with infrastructure-as-a-service providers offering PaaS versions that differ from ones offered by platform-as-a-service providers.
The
CAMP backers hope their API will be recognized by PaaS providers to make things easier for customers.
Last month Oracle released its Public Cloud platform, which offers PaaS and Saas capabilities.
