CA Inc. has signed up outsourcing vendor Achievo Corp. to support its Chinese customers. The agreement, announced Tuesday, represents a shift for Achievo, which has so far focused its efforts on software development using .Net and Java for corporate clients, rather than vendor support.

Under terms of the agreement, Achievo will provide implementation, customization and maintenance services for CA software. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

In a statement, Achievo credited a project completed for Chinese telecommunication equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. with laying the foundation for the CA deal. During that project, Achievo developed a call center and help desk application for Huawei using CA's Unicenter ServiceDesk application.

In addition, the deal with CA follows the hiring of a team of CA-certified engineers for Achievo's Beijing office.

The new staff brought with them clients Beijing Capital International Airport and Air China Holdings Co. Ltd., the country's flag carrier, which have retained Achievo to work on data-warehousing and business-intelligence projects ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games planned for Beijing.
