BSD launches construction design software

An Atlanta-based vendor is beta testing an application that links construction design drawings with specifications.

Building Systems Design (BSD) Inc.’s SpecLink-E (SLE) software, which uses Microsoft Corp.,’s SQL Server database, uses LinkMan-E to integrate with computer-aided design (CAD) environments, such as Revit Architecture 2009. SLE and LinkMan-E, when combined on the same computer or network, can transfer data both ways between specification and CAD environments and update mater databases over the Internet.

Using Microsoft’s ClickOnce technology, users can update their clients and data updates to SLE will not user modifications in existing projects, BSD says. IT also makes quarterly software updates, and stores project-specific information entered by users in separate project overlay tables. These tables are then merged with the master databases content when a project is viewed or printed.
