New security strategies are relying on analytics to predict and mitigate threats

There is an increasing trend to use analytics for security purposes as it can provide an over-the-horizon look at threats that may not be immediately apparent. As the article points out, universities have very complex IT environments due to their transient user population and plethora of mobile devices connecting to the network.

But despite the precarious position they find themselves in, the upside is that they have a wealth of data to analyze and derive insight from.
