I'll stay with 3Web until the end. BTW, I called them today and got through in less than 5 min. Rogers can kiss my a$$...

In the GTA, many 3web or whatever customers with Bell access had phone lines were cut off several weeks ago. Many people were in uproar over this and CIA claimed it was the fault of Bell and not of their server. Bell reported that it was CIA that was the problem, and some tech experts believe some parts of the 3web internet aren't compatible long-term with Bell. After hearing that, it makes you want to spend more on the better deals that do not include 3web!

A friend was using 3WEb and recommended it to me. I called 3WEB on Jan. 31/09 to sign up for their service. I was told that I would receive the modem in a few days. When I had not received it by the end of the week I called again only to be told that my account was all set up but the modem had not been sent out yet. But they would send it out express post and I would have it in a couple of days.

By mid-February the modem had not arrived and I called and was given another story but was told that I would get a month at no charge for my trouble. To make a VERY LONG story short, I did not receive the modem until Feb. 27 and as we all know there are only 28 days in Feb.

I called in again after being set up and they said that they would give me an extra month at no charge for my trouble. I have recently checked my account and they gave me Feb at no charge and have charged me for March and April. Why did they give me Feb. free when I had no service.

I have tried calling them to straighten this out but all I am getting is a constant busy signal. No matter what I try I can't get through. I don't think I will be with this company for much longer. As with other comments listed above they also tried to blame Bell for the time it took to get my service hooked up.

The service by itself was just as good as others but here are the problems I've encountered along with friends of mine who had most of the same problems:

1) Friend gave me an extra modem after 3 months of service, returned it and still got billed for it monthly. Called in EVERY month and they refunded my money after 14 days of "Investigation" only to do it again

2) When calling in I waited on the phone anywhere between 1-7 hours for any support needed, normally between to 4-6 hours.

3) My previous ISP at the same address raised its prices so I switched to 3Web, when my 3Web service was installed I came across horrible issues with my modem disconnecting and and not reconnecting for about 5 minutes only to keep disconnecting. I was told it was because I was .1km out of the maximum range for DSL from the closest DSL server/RSLAM, when I told them it didn't do it before I was told: "then you must of had cable" and we didn't even have cable because none was available in my area, they had to cut back my speeds by 3/4 just to keep connected.

4) When calling in to get my 6th straight modem refund the person on the phone said "Are you with our Gold Package? It shows here your speeds are less than the Bronze package but you're paying for Gold" I didn't have time to talk about the refund for all 9 months of service with that person so I called back after getting my modem refund sent in. He also said he put a note on file.

The next person only tried to send in a dispute for the difference. The note was on file but they were "unable to open it cause their network was slow" So I spent nearly 15 minutes telling them I paid tax on the difference and that it should be refunded too. Finally agreed and tried to only give me the 5% GST for all 9 months when the tax for 8 of the months was 6% so I spent another 30 minutes arguing with them before they finally clued into what I was saying.

That was my longest call at 7 hours waiting time to get the call picked up, plus all the talk time which brought it to just shy of 9 hours total time wasted trying to get my refund. I hope they do go out of business so no one else has to suffer or maybe they could actually apply themselves and do some actual work?

re: Bell Canada may disconnect Cybersurf, affecting thousands of Calgary-area customers

I also once upon a time worked for cia/cybersurf.

You get what you pay for, and with that price you're not getting much. Any issue you may have with the service, has to go through the third party (shaw/rogers/bell) to be corrected.

Contacting them via phone or email, your looking at a much longer response time then the larger providers.

I for one will gladly pay the extra coinage for a provider i can get in touch with, and can resolve issues without having to send it to a third party to correct.

I have seen third party accounts open and being billed although the account shows closed on the cybersurf end. Its sometimes the fault of the third party, but more often then not i recall seeing an issue with the in-house software created by cybersurf.

re: Bell Canada may disconnect Cybersurf, affecting thousands of Calgary-area customers

#1 "tries to spin it so Bell is the bad guy?

They are all bad!Bell, Telus, Rogers and Shaw don't kid your self.

"CIA won’t exist this time next year, and we’ll be better off for it."

since when are we better off if the competition is less? Also what is it up to you if a Business turns a Profit or not? You have vested interest in the Company?

A fact is that what they offer for 40 bucks. Enhanced High speed and a Home phone it would cost you no less than a 100 with any of the other once.

#2 "Just look at the Better Business Bureau file on them. Its huge."

And there is no complaint with Telus, Shaw, Bell and Rodgers? Get real I dealed with all of them I had complains and any one I talk to.

"They cannot keep track of who is currently a customer and who left.

They threaten past customers who left months previously to pay for the months they have gone because they cannot keep track.

Bad management, bad ethics, bad service.

I will be glad when they are gone."

Funny I heard that about the other once too.

#1 and 2 what are you paying for High speed internet and Telephone combined right now?

I'm not saying that CIA is the Cats ass, but at least they are 60% cheaper for the same BS.
