The winner of the 2008 PWN2OWN hacking contest has his sights set on Apple Inc.’s newest launched Safari 4 Beta.
Security researcher Charlie Miller, who took home $10,000 for hacking into a MacBook Air in just two minutes via the Apple Web browser, told our ComputerWorld U.S. affiliate that Safari is “the easiest browser [to hack].”
At a time when Apple is looking to gain market share – especially in the PC space – this proclamation definitely comes at a bad time.
This year’s PWN2OWN event will take place later this month at the CanSecWest security conference in Vancouver. Hackers will be able to earn cash for every new bug they discover among major browsers such as Safari, Internet Explorer, and Firefox.
