Process improvement involves constantly revisiting of your management practices and their performance. Last year stellar performance may become the baseline this year. New technologies may totally “bypass” traditional ways of doing things, on a dime, and so constant searching for new ways of doing business has become a defining critical success factor for organizations.
This week’s resources are a diverse collection of past gems (landmark reports) and web sites that continually update themselves with the latest news and research.
Enjoy.
Have another great week.
1. Executive Guide: Improving Mission Performance Through Strategic Information Management and Technology
This paper was published by the GAO in 1994. This IT guidance remains one of the very best papers I have ever read regarding IT management and is one of my top favorites of all time. David McClure was a true “visionary” when he produced this report! http://archive.gao.gov/t2pbat3/151707.pdf
2. Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC)
The CICA technology committee is established to provide support and advice to stakeholders with respect to information technology matters as they affect the accounting profession. Its focus is on: emerging information technology issues that are of significance to assurance and advisory services, financial or business reporting, internal control and information systems, and responding, commenting and providing advice and assistance on information technology matters affecting the stakeholders. http://www.cica.ca/index.cfm/ci_id/25555/la_id/1.htm
3. Foundation for Influence
How do we make sure we always act with integrity and thus keep our influence high?

5. U.S. Security Awareness, Information Security Auditing page
This web site is dedicated to increasing security awareness among the general population and the technology community. The Basic Security section is focused on the average person. The Advanced Security section should be of interest to technologists, senior management and legislators. Direct access to security information makes this site unique. Within a few clicks, you should have access to what you are looking for. To keep current, consider subscribing to Gideon's INFOSEC list. The lists' primary focuses are security resources, security news, industry trends and vulnerabilities. Gideon's list is low volume and "Distribution Only". http://www.ussecurityawareness.org/highres/infosec-auditing.html
