RSA has enhanced its Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Suite, which discovers, monitors and protects sensitive data from loss, leakage or misuse. The Bedford, Mass.-based company said DLP 7.0 can reduce the total cost of ownership of data loss prevention by automating the protection of sensitive data and reporting, lower risk by protecting more sensitive data in more places, and simplify security operations.
RSA, a division of storage manufacturer EMC, said changes to DLP 7.0 include the ability to automatically move or quantine data at rest, thus reducing administrative costs. End users can now apply self-remediation for sensitive e-mails quarantined due to violations. In addition, the suite generates and sends reports automatically to the appropriate personnel. These new automation enhancements are said to help reduce the time spent handling security incidents by up to 45 per cent.
Other changes include the ability to discover structured content in Oracle and SQL Server databases with native scanning and fingerprinting. DLP 7.0 is also said to broaden protection of intellectual property with automated file fingerprinting functionality across the Datacenter, Network, and Endpoint modules of the suite. The suite now also supports CATIA, a multi-platform commercial software suite used in the aerospace, automotive, and discrete manufacturing industries.
Although DLP 7.0 is available now, integration with RSA enVision technology won't be finished until later this quarter. enVision is RSA's security information and event management application.
