Symantec Corp. has enhanced Veritas CommandCentral, its storage optimization suite, to include agentless capabilities in a new feature called Storage Change Manager. The result is said to increase storage utilization and control demand by mapping storage consumption to business applications. Storage Change Manager enables organizations to proactively manage changes that impact application availability, the company said, by tracking storage infrastructure changes, managing the impact of changes, and enforcing policies and best practices for storage connectivity, configuration and compliance. CommandCentral now also extends agentless capabilities to virtualized environments by providing application to storage spindle visibility in VMware environments, with no requirement to deploy Symantec software or agents on the ESX server. Veritas CommandCentral 5.1 is available now with estimated pricing starting at US$20,000.
