In October, on the more-or-less anniversary of the opening of Cisco Systems Inc.'s
Globalization Centre in Bangalore, I visited the campus (and the city) to learn
more about operations there.
I had expected the run-of-the-mill labour arbitrage play, but that doesn't seem
to be what Cisco and other companies in multinational markets are about. It's not
just cheap labour, it's access to the fastest-growing markets in the world and a
large talent pool. Globalization chief of staff Syed Hoda outlines the history of
tech in Bangalore, its evolution and its future in this video (which also features
on-location videography of the city of Bangalore).
