Allstream has been certified by the PCI Security Standards Council as an approved scanning vendor (ASV), meaning it can now perform PCI vulnerability scans for business customers. The Winnipeg-based provider said the service will help customers adhere to the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS)."This announcement follows Allstream's recent certification as a Qualified Security Assessor from the PCI Security Standards Council making us a one-stop shop for merchants and service providers that need to comply with this standard," Carm Cirella, Allstream's vice-president for professional services delivery, said in a statement.
PCI DSS is an industry-wide standard developed by the major credit card companies to help protect cardholders from fraud and identity theft. It requires merchants and service providers who store, process or transmit cardholder data to adopt information security controls and processes to ensure data confidentiality.
