StarTech.com has launched the Conyx Enhanced Serial Console Server , which allows users to remotely monitor, troubleshoot and control remote networks and attached equipment using virtually any mobile computing device with a Java-enabled browser.
The 16 port Enhanced Console Server provides consolidated access and control of all connected serial consoles on devices such as UNIX, Linux and Solaris servers, as well as routers, switches, PBXs, telecommunications equipment (DSLAMs) and power distribution units (PDUs).
"Administrators no longer need to be tied down to their office to monitor and manage their networks," Jon Arnett, senior product manager at StarTech.com said in a news release. "Anywhere they take their iPhone, BlackBerry or other portable computing device, they can access the Conyx using a Java-enabled browser, ensuring they can handle any situation that arises with their network while keeping it secure.”
The US$1,195 box includes a DHCP client for dynamic IP assignment, offline data logging (Syslog, NFS, CIFS), out-of-band access via an external dial-up modem, the ability to set port triggers with SNMP and e-mail alerts and SSH tunneled serial bridging.
