New indoor modem from Vecima

Vecima Networks has released what it calls the WaveRider next generation indoor modem for its LMS8000 Series 900 MHz linup. The new EUM8005 indoor radio  offers what the Victoria, B.C., company says is the highest throughput OFDM indoor subscriber unit in the industry. The unit enables wireless Internet service providers to increase their return on investment by deploying premium indoor, high throughput wireless broadband access gear to their subscribers.

Fully compatible with the new OFDM LMS8000 system of base stations and outdoor modems released in December 2007, the new EUM8005 has "plug and play" connectivity including power over ethernet (PoE), which permits the transfer of electrical power along with data to remote devices over standard
twisted pair cables in an Ethernet network. The new indoor subscriber unit features up to 13.5 Mbps over-the-air data rate packed into a 5.5 MHz channel size in the 902-928 MHz frequency range. The EUM8005 also has an external antenna connector.

The Vecima line includes the VistaMAX series of WiMAX-compliant equipment at 1.9, 3.5 and 3.65 GHz frequencies and the BWIN series of 700MHz - 6GHz DOCSIS wireless broadband systems for Internet service providers, enterprise customers, video surveillance users, municipalities, governments
and military buyers.
