I am on the 3G Network of Rogers hoping for LTE. Try living on a 2 Gig Network. No growth would be possible, and that is not acceptable for companies. There will be work arounds to continue the growth. One way is to use network address translators in internet provider networks. There will be other work arounds too. Depending on what you want to do with your internet connection that will still work or not.

Another thing is that more and more unused IPv4 addresses will be used. All the small bits and pieces that are now not efficient to use will become interesting. That means that the routing tables (where the reachability of all those bits and pieces will be recorded) will grow, and that might not be workable. If the number of routes grows a lot there might be problems with convergence and that would cause internet stability issues.
