When Things Go Bump in the Server Room

I read an interesting article today as I was “Diggin” through the day, that I thought would be worthy to share here on the IT Blog.  It was about the times that all techs fear.  When things go boom, basically when the question is asked, “Where did the files go?”   How proper backups and information storage have become such an extremly important part of today’s IT.

I thought of my own personal backup procedures and where are my files stored on my home computers.  The problem with me is probably not the fact that I don’t have it backed up, but where did I put it? I can think of atleast 2 spots of where I have data stored currently.  DropBox & Sky Drive'.  Two great online storages for random pictures and less important files.  I guess I haven’t complelty trusted them to store any actual important documents.

I like how IT World Canada worded it by calling it the “Crash and Learn”.  Knock on wood, but please don’t let me have another “crash and learn” day.

I have linked the article of the the 5 stories of the Top 5 data losses.  Rather interesting and gave a great chuckle.
