Broomfield, Colo. -- Value-added distributor
Avnet Technology Solutions (NYSE:
AVT) held its first partner awards at its Partner Summit conference last week, and the awards had some Canadian content. The award for Avnet's top
Symantec partner went to
HighVail Systems, a Toronto-based solution provider. HighVail president Bradley Brodkin and vice-president Krys Armatys were on hand to accept the award.

Brodkin told CDN he’s been
involved with Symantec since before he even began HighVail and back when the NetBackup
technology that is now under Symantec was owned by Openvision, which was later
acquired by Veritas and used in conjunction with its Veritas File Manager
offering.
“Those were the two core products we’ve (Brodkin
and his partner) been involved with since the beginning of our careers. We have
a long legacy,” he said. “That continued when we created HighVail and it’s
basically a core part of our business, along with Sun and Hitachi.”
HighVail achieved impressive 380 per cent growth in
its Symantec business last year, said Brodkin, thanks in large part to a couple
of customers that executed major transactions due to their need to grow up to enterprise-class
licenses, which also helped HighVail become a Platinum partner with Symantec.
"We’re continuing to grow and expand our device
offerings with Symantec with their decision to get out of the direct business
and have partners lead with services,” said Brodlin.
