Sun adds new model to Unified Storage line

Sun Microsystems has expanded its Unified Storage family with a modelthat scales from 12TB to 96TB. The new Sun Storage 7310 is aFlash-powered storage system that leverages Hybrid Storage Poolcapabilities to deliver what the company says is “breakthrough”economics  to customers.  The system, which starts at US$40,165, offersa cluster option to support high availability application environmentsfor continuous data access; Hybrid Storage Pool support that allows upto 600GB of SSD cache (1.2TB for cluster version) for enhancedapplication performance; and DTrace Analytics software, standard acrossthe Sun Storage 7000 family, which provides a  comprehensive analyticsenvironment.  The 7310 is said to use three times less power thantraditional storage solutions. It comes with four 1Gb Ethernet portsper controller and optional 10Gb connectivity. A single controlleroffers two PCI slots for additional network or tape-backup connectivityfor easy plug and play integration.
