Oracle releases Web 2.0 middleware

Oracle Corp. is shipping WebCenter Suite, a middleware product designed to let companies build portals and offer Web 2.0 services.

WebCenter Suite, which uses technology from the BEA acquisition, includes a JavaServer Faces development framework, the WebLogic Portal electronic commerce software, WebCenter Anywhere wireless and desktop services, plus services for wikis, blogs and forums.

It also includes WebCenter Interaction, formerly known as BEA Aqualogic User Interaction, which provides team-based social computing capabilities for heterogeneous environments.

It also includes Oracle WebLogic Portal 10g Release 3. Oracle announced the products at OpenWorld in San Francisco, where the software maker also updated its enterprise resource planning package, unveiling JDEdwards Enterprise One .90
