Librestream shipping Onsight 4.2
LibreStream Technologies Inc. of Winnipeg announced this week version 4.2 of its Onsight software, which is designed for wireless audio and video conferencing.
The new release is designed for sessions over networks with less than 64 Kilobits per second (Kbps) at resolutions of 160 by 112, the vendor states. It includes bandwidth adaptive streaming, which monitors the network and adjusts video parameters to improve performance over cellular networks.
With Onsight 4.2, Librestream is targeting the oil and gas industries, so field workers can communicate with colleagues.
Release 4.2 also includes new reporting features in Onsight Management Suite that collect statistics for analysis and troubleshooting.
Version 4.2 can be used over networks with speeds as low as 24 Kbps with slower frame rates, according to specs on the vendor’s Web site.
Librestream’s hardware includes the Onsight 1000 and 2000 video cameras which run on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows CE operating system. They include voice over IP using Session Initiation Protocol and wireless 802.11.

Onsight hardware works with Microsoft Office Communicator using an H.263 video codec and Tandberg SA’s Video Communication Server.

Tandberg, which was acquired by Cisco Systems Inc.,  resells Onsight using the Fieldview brand name.
