WebDrive supports most FTP servers

RiverFront Software has released WebDrive 3.0, a Windows utility that simplifies FTP, DAV and FrontPage file transfers by making your Web server appear as a network drive.

WebDrive Web-enables Windows programs by letting them treat files on a Web server as ordinary local files. Instead of learning an FTP program’s “Explorer-like” interface, WebDrive lets users actually use Explorer, Word, Excel, or any Windows or DOS program to read and write files that would ordinarily require a separate FTP program, the vendor said.

Since WebDrive makes Web servers look like network drives, there is no need to employ custom interfaces to do standard file operations. Users can even use the DOS prompts to perform copy, xcopy, mkdir, dir and move commands.

WebDrive supports most FTP servers, including Unix, NT, VMS, IBM, MVS, Novell, Macintosh and AS/400.

Pricing for WebDrive 3.0 (www.webdrive.com) is US$3,995 per single-user licence.

RiverFront Software in Norco, Calif., can be reached at (909) 736-8634.

Prices listed are in US currency.
