Trimble offers real-time contact between field and office workers

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based positioning technology vendor Trimble Navigation Ltd. released the new version of its SCS900 Site Controller Software, which should increase efficiency and productivity through real-time communication with field workers.

Among the wireless capabilities in version 2.33 is the ability for engineers to e-mail design changes and work orders to contractors and crews in the field. The two-way data transfer means the contractor can also transfer progress reports and convey on-site problems.

The company said customers will reap time and costs savings from not having to drive data updates between the office and field. As well, they can expect fewer delays and re-work associated with outdated information and end-of-day data synchronization.
