Transition Networks launches new 8-port switch

Transition Networks Inc. has announced its new 8-port gigabit power-over-ethernet (PoE) switch, which allows users to supply power to devices such as wireless access points and VoIP phones.

The Minneapolis-based subsidiary of Communications Systems Inc., said the MIL-SM8TAF1GPA switch will expand its Milan portfolio of switching products. It unveiled the product at this week’s Interop Las Vegas conference taking place from the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Transition Networks said the 8-port switch also includes a fan-less design, which lends itself to use in any office environment. The configuration backup and restore features give users the ability to save current configuration settings to a file on the Web management station, and later, restore the switch configuration settings if necessary.

The switch comes standard with desktop mounts and 19” rack mount ears.
