Canadians looking for another option for an Android 2.3-powered device have gotten their wish this week as Sony Ericsson released its Xperia Arc smart phone device to Rogers Wireless.

The handset’s standout feature is its 8.1-megapixel camera which should satisfy any photography enthusiast. When comparing the device to Google’s Android 2.3 offering, the Nexus S, the Xperia wins out in the screen quality and design categories.

The device will disappoint users looking for on-board memory, as the Xperia only comes with a couple hundred MBs of storage space out of the box. The lack of a front-facing camera is also an issue that should be addressed for a future release.
