SeeFile 4.5 designed to replace FTP

Seefile Software has announced SeeFile version 4.5, which runs as a web server on Mac OSX machines and is said to provide a view of all digital files saved on the hard drive.

It will be available June 1. The latest version uses 10.5 Leopard technology, provides temporary access to FTP users with automatic expiry, shares volumes and folders visible to OSX and manages metadata fields.

It is designed to replace file transfer protocol (FTP) servers with a Web interface so clients do not need FTP software. It also supports video file formats and several camera RAW formats.

Target markets include printing, advertising, video production, commercial photography and photo imaging.
