SaskTel service brings multimedia apps together

SaskTel business customers whose employees use multiple IT applications to perform their jobs will hopefully be able to make those jobs easier with a new collaboration offering from the service provider.

SaskTel’s Converged Desktop is a collaborative multimedia communications service that integrates such enterprise applications as desktop video calling, network-based contacts management and real-time call handling with a company’s existing telephone system.

The thinking is that by allowing workers to access many programs and services through a single interface, considerable time and frustration will be eliminated. According to SaskTel, customers will be able to access the Converged Desktop offering from a hotel room, airport or Internet caf
