RuggedCom unveils management software

RuggedCom Inc. is shipping a management software product for its networking equipment, which is designed to work outdoors in hot, cold, dusty or wet environments. RuggedNMS is designed to monitor networks and notify administrators of potential problems.

Woodbridge, Ont.-based RuggedCom yesterday announced the availability of RuggedNMS, a server-based application that provides a common user interface across all RuggedCom networking products, which are designed for harsh environments such as electrical utility sub-stations and intelligent transportation systems.

RuggedRouter includes firewall, VPN

It includes a Web-based user interface that provides a graphical view of the network. Administrators can configure its auto discovery and polling subsystem and it has pre-packaged reports and tools that let IT managers create user-defined reports. It can be accessed through any Web browser on the network and supports automated network discover through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
