emFAST Inc. is its upgrading FACSys messaging gateway, which now forwards faxed forms using bar code scanning. FACSys version 5.1 now includes FACSys Barcode Delivery, which is designed to replace fee-based systems such as direct inward dial, callerID dial and dual-tone multi-frequency. This system reads a barcode stamp and then compares it to a list of recipients, each of whom have their own barcode stamps.

The advantage, according to the Bridgewater, N.J.-based emFAST, is the ability to deliver to the correct recipient, ensuring the contents remain private. The vendor says it’s suitable for insurance claims, loan approval, customer support requests, contracts and order confirmations.
