Oracle hiring at steady pace in India

Oracle Corp. is recruiting about 250 employees per month in India, said Charles Phillips, the company’s president, on a two-day visit to the country.

Oracle, based in Redwood Shores, California, currently employs about 6,000 people in India.

Besides sales and marketing operations in the country, Oracle’s software development centers in Bangalore and Hyderabad handle product development. India also acts as a hub for several of Oracle’s global support, consulting and financial services operations.

The company expects strong growth revenue in India, Phillips said Thursday at a press conference in Mumbai.

Oracle India serves more than 6,250 customers in the telecommunications, banking, insurance, manufacturing and utilities industries, in both the government and private sectors, according to the company. Earlier this year Oracle announced that it maintains the largest developer community in India outside the U.S. and that its database is supported on 13 major Indian languages.
