Open Text plans update to Hummingbird’s Genio

Canada’s Open Text Corp. said it will launch an updated version next month of software that can exchange content between other vendor’s enterprise resource planning systems.

Executives from the Ottawa-based firm will be demonstrating its Genio product at the ITEC show, which takes place Dec. 5-6, 2007 in Atlanta, Ga. Genio is one of the key assets Open Text gained through its acquisition earlier this year of Hummingbird, its longtime rival in the enterprise content management space. It is best known as a data extraction, transformation and load (ETL) tool that works with unstructured information across the enterprise, including information in ERP and CRM systems.

Open Text gave few details on the features in the next version of Genio but said the software would be built into its broader suite of enterprise content management tools.
