Nortel’s new data products to help network security, manageability

Nortel has broadened its Business Optimized Networking (BON) strategy with new data products designed to help enterprises manage their network security and the issue of rising bandwidth.

As part of that strategy, the communications technoogy vendor will collaborate with Microsoft to integrate Microsoft’s Network Access Protection (NAP) protocols with its Secure Network Access (SNA) technologies in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

This integration will better enable customers to deploy a flexible and comprehensive unified communications solution.

The new BON strategy also includes Nortel VPN Gateway 7.0 extending BON to remote and mobile users; feature updates to the 2500, 4500 and 5500 series of Ethernet Routing Switches; and, enhancements to WLAN 2300 products.
