Network Engines snaps up storage distributor

Server appliance vendor Network Engines Inc. Monday announced it will acquire TidalWire Inc., a storage networking integration company, in a US$20 million deal.

Network Engines, which makes rack-mountable single- and dual-processor servers based on Intel chips, says the acquisition will let it offer one-stop shopping for storage and servers. The company, which also offers integration services, will combine TidalWire’s distribution channels and support expertise with its own products.

The combined company is also expected to develop, manufacture and distribute storage, security and network management applications, in addition to its server appliances.

TidalWire has about 30 employees and is located in Westborough, Mass. Network Engines is located in Canton, Mass.
