Maxell debuts new removable hard disk

Maxell announced today a new removable hard drive geared toward field archivers in need of lightweight-yet-rugged compact removable storage that will be showcased at the National Association for Broadcasters show in Las Vegas.

Dubbing it the “first field-tough media solution of its kind,” the hard drive connects directly through a bi-directional USB or eSATA adapter to a shoulder-mounted camcorder capable of delivering 10-bit, 4:2:2 master- quality video and native full HD video.

The product also can store 160 GB of data, and has a transfer rate of 540 Mbps.

It will be available in the second quarter of this year, followed by a 250 GB drive in the third.
