Keeping those students in line

Principals and teachers now have a new software tool to call their own: one that tracks the frequency and the reasons behind student behavioural problems, as well as their subsequent punishments.

The software, dubbed ezDiscipline, is a Windows XP/2000 application targeted at schools and universities.

According to a statement from ezDiscipline, “[The software] helps improve discipline by ensuring that students are held accountable for their actions.”

The software includes a main incident screen where users can jot down as much information as they wish, including the names of the student and involved staff members. Additionally, one can make notes about the event and whether parents or police were contacted, the company said.

According to the firm, the application is easy to use; it’s accessible by multiple users and can be password protected. The application comes complete with a “To Do” list and “Calendar” to record an educator’s day-to-day activities.

The software includes a set of pre-built reports to which schools can add their own categories. The reports enable educators to look for disciplinary trends including historical data or individual student details.

A standard import screen allows users to import existing student, staff and timetable records to minimize data entry.

According to ezDiscipline, even though the application was built for educational institutions, users can configure it for any business or industry that wants to track its employees’ behavioural patterns.
