Ingate expands into South Africa

Firewall technology specialist, Ingate Systems, says that it is expanding sales into this country through a distributor agreement with i-Security.

CEO of i-Security, Jeremy Miller, explains that the Ingate Firewalls and SIParators connect to an existing network firewall to enable SIP communications.

He continues by saying that all Ingate hardware aims to solve the Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal issues inherent in SIP communications, offering far- and near-end NAT traversal to extend the SIP capabilities within the corporate network to remote workers.

According to Ingate Systems CEO, Olle Westerberg, the company’s products are designed for businesses with high requirements for security, flexibility and performance, and cannot be brought to the market by a simple ‘box-mover’ type of distributor.

“Being mainly a development organization in Sweden, our target is therefore to find very qualified partners, with high technical skills and substantial experience within VOIP, to offer our products to the various markets. SA is clearly the most relevant market for us in Africa and in i-Security we have certainly found an organization that will be able to create satisfied users of Ingate products,” Westerberg says.

Roll-out will start immediately, although SA is still in the initial phases of VOIP deployment. “We will proceed project by project with early adopters of VOIP,” Westerberg concludes.
