Infor partners with Amazon to deliver cloud ERP

LONDON – Infor, a provider of industry specific enterprise applications, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in order to deliver its Infor10 Business Cloud as a service to companies worldwide.

Using AWS’ infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) capabilities, Infor will be able to provide customers with cloud based CRM, EAM and ERP applications.

Infor hopes that by providing applications as-a-service, enterprises may be tempted by quick deployments, the ability to scale and the ability to test customisations before deploying them into a production environment.

“One of the beauties of having these environments in the cloud is that they can be deployed in minutes, used for a temporary purpose, and taken down very quickly,” said Jim Plourde, VP cloud operations at Infor.

“Since AWS’ are so robust, customers can also choose to keep the environments running perpetually, using them as their production environment managed by our Applications Management Services team or managed by the customer themselves,” he added.

The partnership will also allow Infor to target new geographies with the service, as it will be able to use AWS’ sites in South America, Europe and Asia without having to buy and set up its own infrastructure, as it had been doing previously.

In other news, Infor has also revealed that it is intending to offer ‘heavy discounts’ to its customers that engage with it early on and decide to migrate to its new middleware platform, ION, which aims to make integrating disparate and third applications easier.
