IBM expands Project Green

IBM announced its new green add-ons that come as its eco-friendly Project Green enters its second year.

Additions include modular, energy-efficient data center designs that work anywhere in the world and can reduce energy consumption by as much as 50 per cent. Different plans include enterprise-level plans, portable plans, and plans for high-density zones.

New software released includes IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) 4.3, which can bolster the flexibility and responsiveness of IT infrastructures by creating enterprise-wide, consolidated virtual pools of data and will allow IT managers to centrally manage resources and improve response time. Also on offer are the services IBM Server Optimization & Integration Services for VMware server virtualization, and IBM Storage Optimization and Integration Services for process excellence, and IBM Softek z/OS Dataset Mobility Facility (zDMF).
