Economic downtown could signal danger for enterprise spending

Enterprise budgeting could be affected by the consumer’s economics troubles, according to a study released today by the Toronto-based Info-Tech Research Group. The study found that the American sub-prime lending fall-out, rising unemployment, and increasing energy prices will put the crunch on IT managers and CIOs to better justify IT spending as enterprise spending is curtailed. These challenges will be compounded by the rising expectations of management of top-notch functionality and ongoing improvements.

According to Andy Woyzbun, lead analyst with Info-Tech Research Group, “IT leaders need to find the balance between security and compliance-driven policies and procedures and innovative projects, providing sufficient leeway to deliver solutions that can contribute bottom line benefits.”
