Compuware launches new version of dev tool

Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Compuware Corp. recently launched the latest version of its Xpediter/DevEnterprise, version 4.0.

The new version enables real application understanding and is designed specifically for developers as an analysis tool to help them build, test and extend application development, the company said, adding that developers can use DevEnterprise for large maintenance and development projects such as extending OS applications to the Web.

It also helps developers by providing them with the ability to locate programs, datasets and databases.

Xpediter/DevEnterprise analyzes and understands critical components in applications to fulfil new business requirements by assisting in the identification of business logic to simplify its re-use in other applications, Compuware said in a statement.

The company added that Xpediter/DevEnterprise can also provide insight into how an application change could impact multiple applications minimizing the risk of placing new applications into production.

New to version 4.0 is the Metadata Analyzer, giving developers access to the information they need and responds to the business need for identifying the impact of changes across applications, Compuware said.

Besides multiple-user, cross-application analysis, this new release enhances support for assembler programs, in addition to the existing COBOL support, the company said.

Xpediter/DevEnterprise 4.0 is now available. More information on the new version can be found on the Web at www.compuware.com.
