CollabNet upgrades Scrum project management tool

CollabNet is releasing today an upgrade to its ScrumWorks Pro agile project and program management software, featuring a revamped Web-based UI and improvements in performance.

Version 5.0 of ScrumWorks Pro constitutes what the company calls a comprehensive overhaul of the product, which is geared toward enterprise software development shops that use the Scrum methodology for agile development. ScrumWorks accommodates Scrum roles, including team member, Scrum master, and project owner.

A Web UI layer featuring the Spring Framework for Java development results in increased performance and improved ease of use, said David Parker, vice president and general manager of the Scrum business line at CollabNet. Also, version 5.0 is better suited for multiple development teams than previous versions, thanks to a simpler UI that supports larger, geographically distributed teams, he said. “You’re able to manage multiple release cycles and bring them together.”

ScrumWorks Pro is offered in both on-premise and cloud-based versions, with pricing beginning at $23 per user per month for 11 to 25 users. Customers needing 10 seats or fewer can use the product for free. CollabNet said ScrumWorks, which debuted in 2006, is used by more than 150,000 developers.
