Code-named Project Rainbow, Montreal-based Microcell Telecommunications Inc.‘s new business initiative is designed to bring together a network of companies to develop and market commercial mobile data services. According to the company, its goal is to work with companies like systems integrators, network access device and content suppliers, platform and toolkit developers, multimedia technology providers, application developers and domain specialists to develop mobile applications and get them out onto the market as quickly as possible. The company claims to be in discussions with over 70 companies from around the world to form the alliance. Microcell said participants will benefit from access to test beds for accreditation, joint marketing and promotion of the new applications. Microcell is on the Web at
