John Buckley has been named Vice-President, Retail IT Services for Maritime Life Assurance, Halifax. His major challenge will be to continue to evolve the capability and responsiveness of the Retail IT organization in support of the marketing and sale of retail insurance and investment products. This will require continued evolution of the firm’s Web and internal systems capabilities and a focus on ‘speed to market’ project delivery in a highly competitive marketplace. Mr. Buckley was previously Vice-President and CIO, Liberty Health, Markham, Ont.

Kathryn Beaton has been appointed Chief, Business Solutions Division, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, which is part of the Human Services Cluster, Information and Information Technology within the Government of Ontario. She is based in Toronto. Ms. Beaton was previously Corporate CIO, SVP Customer Care, SVP Supply Management Services for Hydro One Inc., Ont. Gary Davenport has been appointed Vice President and CIO of retailer Hudson’s Bay Company. Most recently, he was Hudson’s Bay’s Vice President, Information Services, a position he held for five years. Mr. Davenport is located in Toronto.

Janet Topic is the new Vice President, Information Technology for Trimac Corporation, a provider of highway transportation of bulk commodities, and third party logistics services. She is based in Calgary. Previously, Ms. Topic was Principal / Product Development Manager for consulting firm Ernst & Young in Calgary, a position she held for five years.
