Canadian tech firms represented on Forbes.com’s Best Employers for 2016 list

Forbes Magazine unveiled its inaugural look at the best employers in Canada — and a handful of tech companies are on the list.

For the first time, Forbes worked with online stats firm Statista.com to anonymously poll more than 8,000 Canadian workers from a range of sectors — including universities, government agencies and financial services firms — on how likely they were to recommend their company to others. Respondents included in this sample are representative of the Canadian workforce by gender, age, region, education, and ethnicity, Forbes said.

Energy utilities provider BC Hydro topped Forbes’ Canada’s Best Employers 2016 list; representing the technology sector are Toronto-based software firm Ubisoft at four, Kitchener, Ont.’s Google Canada at nine and Mississauga, Ont.-based communications technology and services provider Ericsson Canada at number 14. Further down the list are Apple (31), Cisco Canada (35) and Microsoft Canada (49).
