Breakout Software last month announced the release of MonitorIT version 4.0, which offers a WinServicesWatch component to monitor services on Windows NT and 2000 servers and workstations. The Scotch Plains, N.J.-based company said that 4.0 also comes with a new e-mail group address feature for easier management of e-mail alert recipients; customizable e-mail alert text; and maximum alert notifications per incident and reporting and charting enhancements. MonitorIT has an entirely Web-based console design for anytime, anywhere access. MonitorIT 4.0 is available now and a 30-day evaluation version is available at http://www.breakoutsoft.com.

Austin, Tex.-based Winternals Software recently released a utility that the company said recovers the widest possible ranges of files deleted from servers and workstations in all Windows environments. Winternals’ FileRestore is designed to not only recover files emptied from the Recycle Bin but also recover data that bypassed the Recycle Bin when deleted via the Command Prompt.
