Asia Global Crossing launches Australian service

Asia Global Crossing Ltd. Wednesday began offering data networking services in Australia and New Zealand, a move that follows its acquisition last month of the Asian operations of IXnet Inc. and IPC Information Systems Inc. from parent company Global Crossing Ltd., Asia Global Crossing announced in a statement.

As a result of the move, Australia is expected to become the company’s third largest market for data services, the statement said.

The acquisition of IXnet and IPC gives Asia Global Crossing an additional 140 corporate customers and 40 more points of presence (POPs) in 11 Asian countries, the statement said. In addition, Asia Global Crossing added approximately 160 employees from its acquisition of IXnet and IPC’s Asian operations, it said.

Asia Global Crossing expects to generate more than US$100 million in revenue over the next two years as a result of the transaction, it said.

Asia Global Crossing, in Hong Kong, can be reached at http://www.asiaglobalcrossing.com.
